Y.E.S FORUM - Youth and European Social Work

YES logo
Yes Forum promotes cooperation between government bodies and nongovernmental institutions with the aim of:
• combating and preventing the social exclusion of young people in Europe
• developing and exchanging innovative and practical strategies
• learning from each other and creating collaborative relationships
• making a positive contribution to European political debate on youth and social affairs

The strength of Yes Forum is in its day to day involvement of, and support for, young people through its member organisations – who are working with tens of thousands of young people.

What unites Yes Forum members is a commitment to involve young people directly in voicing their concerns and wishes to policy makers.

Yes Forum promotes the principles enshrined in The United Nations Convention on The Rights of The Child. We believe that solutions that work in promoting active citizenship will be ones that encourage education for life – not merely for job skills, and are sustainable over the long term.

Yes Forum facilitates communication and collaboration between its diverse stakeholder groups; young people, professionals, politicians, policy makers, academics, researchers.

In particular, Yes Forum encourages transnational projects which link policy, practice and research, in the belief that both policy makers and ‘practitioners’ will benefit from the knowledge gained by academic colleagues, that the direct experience of practitioners in the field can inform decision makers and social theorists and that academics and practitioners need to be aware of the political and policy framework in which they are working.

These joint projects are overtly practical and are geared to the genuine participation of young people. They aim to break down the social, cultural, political and language barriers which allow discrimination, prejudice and social exclusion to flourish.
