The Combined European Bureau for Social Development (CEBSD) consists of 10 national/regional community development organisations. CEBSD is committed to working at the European policy level to inform and influence the European Union, Council of Europe and other institutions, especially on the issues of social inclusion, citizens' participation and civil society, from a community/social development perspective. It seeks to do this in partnership with other European networks.
Structure of Organisation:
CEBSD is run by the CEBSD Board of 10 members. Board Members are responsible for networking within their own country and this is supplemented by the circulation of information through the CEBSD website and e-group. The Board meets twice a year and is hosted in turn by each member. The Executive Committee (5 Board Members) meets four times a year. Tasks related to carrying out CEBSD's strategic plan are taken on by Board members and are co-ordinated by a freelance consultant, Margo Gorman. CEBSD is registered in the Netherlands as Combined European Bureau for Social Development Stichting No. 27S156304 Den Haag
Aims and activities:
CEBSD focuses on exchanges between members in order to combine their experience and to identify and promote models of good practice in community development. Over the last two years the network has prioritised its website to facilitate these exchanges and is developing an active egroup. CEBSD produces one publication a year on a current theme; organises conferences, seminars training courses; and carries out action research - most recently an EU-funded project on participation methods.
