The objective of the European Public Health Alliance is to protect and promote the public health interests of all people living in Europe.
Structure:
EPHA is a network of regional, national, European and International non-governmental and other not for profit organisations ¡V government agencies, educational institutions, individuals.
Aims:
EPHAs¡¦ priority commitment is to provide a range of information and support service to its member organisations, as well as timely and relevant information and analysis to subscribers, the general public, EU officials and MEPs.
EPHA offers a dynamic interface between the EU institutions and the non-governmental sector, aiming to facilitate the EU¡¦s commitment to transparency, consultation and involvement of European citizens and their representative organisations in the development of healthy public policies and programmes.
Activities:
EPHA plays a major role in the development and strategy of European health Policy by:
Monitoring the policy making process within the EU institutions and maximising the flow of information concerning health promotion and public health policy developments amongst Institutions and civil society.
Supporting collaboration at a European level between non-governmental organisations and other not for profit organisations active in the member states and the candidate countries in health promotion and public health.
Promoting greater awareness amongst European citizens and non-governmental organisations about policy developments and programme initiatives that affect the health of EU citizens so that they can contribute to the policy making process and take practical action to take part in appropriate programmes.
