The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) established on 22 September 1990, is the largest coalition of Women’s non-governmental organisations in the European Union (EU).
Structure
General Assembly Constituted by delegates of each Member State and European organisations. The General Assembly meets once a year.
Board of Administration (elected every 2 years by the General Assembly) 25 members 1 member per country of the European Union 10 representatives of European organisations
Executive (elected by the Board of Administration) President, 2 Vice Presidents, Treasurer
Secretariat A team headed by a Secretary General
Aims
The EWL’s fundamental aim and chosen field of action is to defend and promote equality between women and men. The EWL acts on behalf of its member organisations and has the mandate to promote the interests of women living in the EU, including immigrants, ethnic minorities, vulnerable and marginalised social groups, within the framework of a united and democratic Europe.
The EWL’s membership is made up of national and European organisations operating in the EU. Elected delegates attend the annual General Assembly and approve the work programme, financial report and the report of activities.
The scope of activities of the EWL include
lobbying on draft equality legislation;
monitoring the implementation of Directives, action programmes on equality and other measures related to its objectives;
working for the integration of a gender perspective in all policies

A directory of its member organisations
A European Women’s Talent Bank
An interactive news service for women via Internet
The European Women’s Lobby has also created its own European Policy Action Centre on Violence against women which includes a European Observatory on violence against women, a database, a documentation centre and, shortly, a European website on violence against women.
