MEPs support gender quotas on corporate boards [11/04/2012] The chair of the FEMM Committee Mr Gustafsson informs that the EUL, Greens, ALDE and S&D groups of the Parliament are in favor of gender quotas for a minimal percentage female representation on corporate boards, a proposal that the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, Ms Reding is considering to propose to the member states. Mr Gustafson said to Europolitics that “It is not because we want to do this but because nothing has happened in recent years to improve the situation. We have been waiting for so long. Right now, we have an informal male quota where men elect men,†he said.
