Everyone has the right to live free from discrimination. As their first core value, the Social Platform and its members are committed to the implementation of the principle of equality, non discrimination, solidarity, and the promotion and respect of fundamental rights for all within Europe. Discrimination destroys lives, marginalises communities, and prevents the development of a social Europe based upon inclusiveness, solidarity, and justice.

In accordance with the article E of the European Social Charter, the Social Platform fights against discrimination on any ground such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national extraction or social origin, health, association with a national minority, birth or other status.

Equality and non Discrimination is the main focus of the Social Platform's Working Group on Fundamental Rights and Anti-discrimination. The Working Group meets four or fives times each year to share information, experience and to contribute to common positions.
