Eurodiaconia: 2015 Roma Network meeting & hearing

19-21 October | Brussels, Belgium (exact location TBC)

Eurodiaconia is pleased to invite you to the 2015 meeting of the Roma Network, which will take place on 19 and 20 October 2015, and to the 2015 Roma hearing, which will take place on 21 October 2015.

Following on from the 2014 meeting which took place in Novi Sad, Serbia, the 2015 Roma Network meeting will provide a forum for Eurodiaconia members to exchange experiences and good practices in the field of Roma Inclusion. It will aim to inform members about recent initiatives at EU level related to Roma Inclusion, to facilitate discussion on recent national developments, and to explore core thematic issues such as Roma access to education, Roma stereotypes in ‘sending’ and ‘receiving’ countries, and the spiritual dimension of Roma inclusion (focusing on the added value of diaconia beyond meeting immediate material needs).

The key aim of the 2015 Roma Hearing is to raise awareness about the particular challenges Roma women are facing across Europe when it comes to accessing education or employment, and making their voices heard in the political arena. By discussing the state of play, positive practices and next steps, we hope to connect stakeholders from different backgrounds (institutional actors, representatives of Roma communities, local authorities and civil society representatives) and provide space for fruitful reflection on how the gender dimension of Roma inclusion could be better taken into account in policy-making, EU funding initiatives and concrete projects.
