European Youth Forum event: Free Movement for Youth – Knocking down the barriers

On December 2 from 15:00-17:00 at First Euroflat Hotel, European Youth Forum (YFJ) is holding an event on ‘Free Movement for Youth – Knocking down the barriers’. The event will gather youth organisations, policy makers and civil society organisations to discuss the topic of youth mobility and current barriers to free movement for young people in Europe and beyond.

The aims of the event will be to:

  • Raise awareness on youth mobility issues, and convey the importance of ensuring the needs and rights of young people are taken into account in EU and natinal legislative processes on mobility and visas
  • Launch the website of the European Youth Forum on ‘Free Movement for Youth’ to show the existence of barriers to mobility

Speakers will be Members of the European Parliament, representatives from the Italian and Latvian presidencies and from the European Commission

Discussions will centre on the two legislative processes namely the Visa Directive on Conditions of Entry of Third Country Nationals and the proposal of the European Commission on the revision of the Union Code on Visas.
