Eurodiaconia: Roundtable on strategies to promote access to employment

12 April 2019, 09:30-13:00 | Eurodiaconia, 166 Rue Joseph II, Brussels B-1000, Belgium

The proclamation of the European Pillar of Social Rights has brought to the fore the fundamental right of everyone to engage in work. Crucially, it also sets out the different elements that need to be in place in order to bring such a right into practice. Three years after the publication of the Council Recommendation of 15 February 2016 on the integration of the long-term unemployed into the labour market, and in the context of its formal assessment, Eurodiaconia wishes to take stock of progress made so far and create a space for discussion and proposals for new policy initiatives that continue to support access to employment for all people, in particular for those under the umbrella category of those with “low employability”.

The debate will emphasise the crucial role of quality social services to provide active support to employment for all people together with other key stakeholders, such as employers or public services. This and other messaged lie at the heart of the Eurodiaconia policy paper Strategies to promote access to employment for all people, which will be formally launched on the day.
