CECOP-CICOPA Europe: CECOP calls for the recognition of cooperatives and other social economy enterprises as the European Parliament elects Antonio Tajani as its new President

The President of CECOP, Giuseppe Guerini, has welcomed the newly elected President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani: “Cooperatives in industry and services strongly believe that European institutions must recognise the role of social economy enterprises, just as Mr Tajani did during his tenure as Commissioner and Vice-President of the European Commission.”

Mr Tajani was elected as the new President of the European Parliament on 17 January in Strasbourg for a mandate of two and a half years. “We were honoured to have the opportunity to work closely with him on several important topics such as the new Directive on Public Procurement and Concessions, as well as his work on Social enterprises, which was discussed during the ’Social Entrepreneurs have your say’ conference organized by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on 16 and 17 January 2014″, said Mr Guerini.
