The European Citizens Summit 2014
Social Platform together with other European networks and members including the European Women's Lobby and the European Public Health Alliance, are participating in the European Citizens Summit from 23-24 September in Brussels. This year’s event, entitled ‘Beyond growth obsession: Rights, Justice and Democracy for all’, will address Europe’s growth obsession and create a space for citizens, civil society organisations and decision makers to discuss an alternative vision of Europe.
Social Platform’s Director, Pierre Baussand, will moderate a workshop on wealth and distribution, looking at the current structure for redistribution from public to private assets that contributes to increasing inequalities, and the EU’s role in this system.
The European Citizens Summit is an annual conference organised by the EU Civil Society Contact Group, aiming to envision a Europe for and from citizens. The Civil Society Contact Group (CSCG) brings together eight large rights and value based NGO sectors.
