Social Europe is a priority in the future EU treaty: Send a letter to your government, NOW!

EU Heads of state and of government will meet on the 21-22 June to decide on the steps forward for the revision of the EU treaties.

The negotiations that are now taking place to prepare the European summit are sending worrying signals: mini-treaty, EU Charter of Fundamental Rights taken out of the treaty, suppression of article I.47 on participatory democracy and opposition to the inclusion of “social” clauses.

As civil society organizations we have fought hard to promote a more democratic Union, based on fundamental rights with strong social objectives.

We need to act now to safeguard these achievements and to ensure that Social Europe is given priority in the future EU treaty.
