A Social Europe for all with all. Developing an Action Plan for the European Pillar of Social Rights

When? 18 November 2020, 14:00-16:00

Where? Virtual event (via Webex)

Europe is grappling with the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It needs to find solutions both to tackle these impacts of the crisis with urgency and in the medium term to recover from this crisis while building a more resilient and social Europe. Europe can only be more resilient if it becomes a society based on social justice, where dignity, wellbeing, respect for every person and their human rights are at the centre of all decisions and actions.

The European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan is a crucial tool in this context. However, it must cover all 20 principles of the Social Pillar and aim at ensuring their ambitious implementation through EU and national action in the areas of policies & legislation, socio-economic governance, funding as well as civil and social dialogue. An ambitious Action Plan can help us overcome this crisis and achieve the objective of building a socially just Europe.

Social Platform and MEP Katrin Langensiepen jointly organise this event to discuss with institutional speakers and participants how the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan must be designed to fulfill its potential to contribute to Europe’s social recovery.
