Caritas Europa: Partnerships for job creation conference

22 November, 09:30-17:00 | European Economic & Social Committee, Room VMA3, 2 Rue Van Maerlant, Brussels B-1000, Belgium

Caritas sees in its everyday work that interventions promoting quality employment for all need a new approach and a new way of rethinking social protection and social cohesion.

We need innovative interventions that enhance relationships among the members of society and promote collective responsibility. In order to produce effective results, such a process should involve not only people in need, but also entire territorial systems, in order to activate multi-stakeholder synergies. Only then is it possible to produce social, environmental and economic value.

In the last years, many Caritas organisations have invested human and financial resources to find innovative solutions to counteract poverty and to experiment in new cooperation with several stakeholders (including businesses, the public sector, financial actors/investors, trade unions, etc.) to promote projects linked to job creation for people outside the labour market.

In addition to its work in expanding social economy initiatives and in advocating at EU level for inclusive labour markets, Caritas Europa is developing strategic cooperation with European networks, such as the European Venture Philanthropy Association and other EaSI funded networks in order to enlarge and strengthen synergies that foster labour market inclusion. The main aim of this cooperation is to better support national member organisations to expand their social impact and to increase job opportunities in their countries. The present conference in cooperation with the European Economic and Social Committee is organised in this framework.
