Eurodiaconia: Investing in quality social services for sustainable care in Europe

3 October, 08:00-09:30 | European Parliament (Lounge, MEP Restaurant) Bâtiment Paul Henri Spaak, Rue Wiertz 60, Brussels B-1047, Belgium

Eurodiaconia, together with Member of the European Parliament Tomáš Zdechovský (European People’s Party), is inviting policy-makers, care-providers and other stakeholders, to discuss challenges and recommendations associated with the investment and the provision of social services in Europe. The European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) calls for affordable, high-quality long-term care (LTC) services and the inclusion of people with disabilities. However, this call faces major challenges: how can the new European Commission and European Parliament deliver on the EPSR and pave a way forward when by 2080 those aged 65+ will account for almost a third of the population and those aged 80+ will double (Eurostat).

Quality care is essential in providing sustainable services that respect human rights of users and aim for the highest standards. Eurodiaconia believes that everyone should have access to quality social services. This is why “Q-Europe” developed a tool to support LTC managers to assess and improve their work on rights based service provision.

The event brings together the European Parliament, the European Commission and civil society to discuss challenges and offer recommendations for well financed, high-quality, and sustainable service provision. To know more about the event, please check the agenda.
