Social Platform 25th anniversary panel debate

10 November 2020, 16:00 – 17:00 Online

On 10 November 2020, right after our Extraordinary General Assembly, we are organising a panel debate with a number of former Social Platform Presidents to look into the achievements of the past 25 years and, most importantly, to look into the future of social Europe and Social Platform’s role and challenges ahead.

During this debate we would like to reflect on two main areas:

  1. Looking back at 25 years of Social Platform existence, what do you think our joint main achievements are?
  2. While a lot has been achieved, we are far from equal, just and social Europe. The current Covid-19 crisis not only made the situation much worse for many people and many of the groups Social Platform members represent and defend, but arguably it has created a momentum, an opportunity to significantly shift the focus of the EU and achieve a kind of society we all advocate for. What is your take/prediction/hope on the coming years? What is the role for Social Platform in the current context? What do we need to do more/less of or differently to achieve our vision?

Invited speakers include four former Social Platform Presidents:

  • Anne-Sophie Parent
  • Fintan Farrell
  • Conny Reuter
  • Jana Hainsworth

The panel debate will be moderated by Piotr Sadowski, current President of Social Platform.
