2018 was a pivotal year for Social Platform. With the European Pillar of Social Rights being proclaimed in 2017, it was vital to move quickly to ensure that this new political instrument became an initiative for the people, many of whom feel left behind. As a result, much of our work in 2018 was centred on advocating for a Social Pillar that has teeth.
We can feel proud of our collective efforts, with many gains for a socially sustainable future of Europe. But let us not be complacent: much more must be done if the EU social agenda is going to live up to its lofty aspirations. This was a theme of our first ever Flagship Conference, which brought together key influencers to debate and discuss the state-of-play and how we can maintain and increase momentum for drastic social change.
