The 2024-29 European Commission political guidelines commit to adopting the first-ever EU Anti-Poverty Strategy. Following the new Action Plan on implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights planned for end 2025, the Commission proposal on the EU Anti-Poverty Strategy is expected to be published in early 2026.
As the leading network of European civil society organisations working for a more social Europe, Social Platform believes that the upcoming EU Anti-Poverty Strategy needs to address the multidimensional nature of poverty and structural inequalities through binding measures, policy guidance and sufficient funding to ensure that no one is left behind.
