EIGE launches webpage on COVID-19 and gender equality

The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) launched a dedicated website on the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on gender equality. The information contained on the website is based on EIGE’s existing research and gender statistics and highlights the different realities that women and men could be facing in light of this pandemic.

The website also contains policy recommendations to policymakers to ensure that any measures taken in the short and long-term take into account the gender perspective.

The website is divided into six different areas and how these relate with gender equality:

  • Frontline workers
  • Gender impacts and health
  • Unpaid care and housework
  • Economic hardship and gender
  • Gender-based violence
  • People in vulnerable situations

Further sections will be developed, and the website will be updated on an ongoing basis.
