Court of Justice opinon: ECHR is not compatible with EU law

On 18 December 2014 the European Court of Justice (ECJ) delivered its opinion on the draft agreement on the accession of the European Union to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. The court concluded that there are problems with regards to compatibility with EU law; accordingly, the court concluded that the draft agreement on the accession of the EU to the ECHR is not compatible with EU law.
